Welcome you to T.S. Bon Accord’s website, where I hope your stay will be a long and very happy one.
The Sea Cadet Corps is a national youth organisation for boys and girls aged 10 - 18. It is open to all young people, regardless of race, religion or colour and draws its members from widely differing backgrounds.
We are quite a young unit and were originally attached to Stonehaven and District Sea Cadets.
Since November 1999 we have been a fully commissioned Sea Cadet Unit in our own right.
All adults are volunteer instructors, fully qualified in boating activities to RYA (Royal Yachting Association) standards.
We meet every Wednesday and Friday evening at 7.30pm until 9.30 with the exception of Christmas and New Year. A small fee of £1 per evening will be charged to help build up our stores of equipment.
Within T.S. Bon Accord you will find friendship and a great team spirit. When in uniform you will be expected to be smart and to keep smart, looking after and being proud of your uniform at all times. Within the Sea Cadet Corps there is a certain amount of discipline, which is necessary due to the activities we take part in. Safety is always very important; therefore discipline is also very important.
Most of all the Sea Cadets believe in 'Serious Fun'. You will experience lots of serious fun at T.S. Bon Accord.
To Parents
The aim of the Sea Cadet Corps is to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy.
Each Sea Cadet Unit is self-supporting raising money from grants and the general public to provide and maintain its own local headquarters and to send Cadets on courses and camps. We also receive generous help from the Royal Navy, which provides training facilities and uniforms, and from the Sea Cadet Association (the parent charity of the corps), which gives financial support and also runs the offshore sail training vessels.
T.S. Bon Accord is always on the look out for willing adults to help with its fund raising. Anyone interested should come along to the unit and introduce him or herself. They will be made most welcome.
Should you have any further questions please come along to the Unit on any training evening and talk to either myself or any member of my staff.
